  • Block leakage events, or Quarantine for Review

Most of these critical tasks will be efficiently handled by DLP appliances that will sit on your perimeter, analyzing all outbound network traffic. Because the system will set up “fingerprints” for sensitive data, documents, and databases, the appliances will catch even snippets or excerpts of these data if they are outbound. (In a way it will be like an intrusion detection system or intrusion prevention system turned inside out!)

If you want to inspect Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) traffic, you can integrate with BlueCoat or another SSL/ICAP proxy. You can also inspect outbound MS Exchange traffic.
