Critical Asset Security Assessment (CASA)

This assessment targets vulnerabilities and security concerns accessible from within the network that could be used by viruses or malicious users to violate the integrity, confidentiality, or availability of sensitive corporate or client data. It includes:

  • On-site vulnerability and security assessment of each client's mission-critical resources from within the network
  • Manual review of configurations, virus protection, firmware, and patches
  • Manual validation and interpretation of results
  • Detailed remediation advice and reporting

The CASA is the second component and is performed on site to analyze the security of systems from within the firewall should perimeter defenses fail and to ensure that each client's resources are protected from internal threats (such as virus propagation). The CASA further provides remediation advice for enhancing security and mitigating threats to critical information and systems. This part of the assessment focuses on the network infrastructure, administrative systems, and other servers.

Like the PSA, the CASA exposes vulnerabilities and weaknesses in network components by analyzing communication services, operating systems, unprotected ports, applications, and router, switch, and firewall configurations. Unlike the PSA, the CASA is performed on site and verifies the security of systems should perimeter security measures fail or should security breaches originate internally.
